If companies buy a projector or an LCD?

With the price of large (> 32 ") LCD displays diminishing rapidly and new features were added to the LCD screens, does it still make business sense to buy a projector screen vs. LCD?

Some of the variables consider when evaluating this issue are the quality of product, price, image quality, screen size and other considerations. We discuss these and other factors perspective typical business organization. Read other articles and make your opinion based.

Product Life: LCD TV or screens often have a backlight life of 30,000 to 60,000 hours (that is, if you have the screen for ~ 6 hours each day, the backlight will last 16). Even then, the backlight can be replaced on most LCDs. A projection lamp typically has a life of 2,000 hours.

Price considerations: A basic projector can be found from INR 25,000. However, if the projector is to be used for video conferencing or boardroom presentation, a high resolution, good contrast ratio and color saturation of the projector would be required. The cost a projector is close to Rs 1 lakh. Thereafter, you need to factor in the price of the bulb of the projector and projection screens. A projection lamp typically need to be replaced almost every year or two bulbs at a cost of Rs 20,000 + per bulb. We have added the costs over a period of five years to compare LCD projector in front of one (see table below). With 46 "LCD TV or screen costing around Rs 135,000 - Rs 150,000 and falling, the price ceases to be a problem when consider buying a projector or LCD screen

Base unit capital cost for the projector is INR 70,000 and that of an LCD screen is INR 150,000, Projector Screen Capital Cost (Wall Mount screens Rs 5-15K) is Rs 10,000, the cost of consumables of the projector is 20,000 x 3 = 60 000 INR, the life of the consumables of a projector is 2,000 hours and the an LCD is 60,000 hours and the cost of owning a projector is Rs.140, 000 / - and Rs.150, 000 / - for an LCD.

Assume: 5 years of the use of a day at 5 ha ~ 6600hrs of use. This translates to 4 lamps five years requiring the customer to buy three lamps, and a supplied with the machine.

What is clear from the figure above is a full HD 46 "LCD screen is, at best, only slightly more expensive than a ~ 2500AL XGA projector. Additional costs for installation of the display of low costs and reduce device costs are purely additional loss.

Image quality DLP projectors as a projector or LCD glass panels combine the use of red, green and blue to create the image. When sitting near the screen, the viewer can see the different colors on the edges of an image, aptly described as the "rainbow effect. The rainbow effect away from the image quality and can give headaches. high-end projectors have been able to reduce the rainbow effect, but the problem still remains and projectors high-end cost more. LCD TV or LCD screens do not have rainbow effect problems and the picture quality is good at close range.

By contrast, projectors can not compare with the picture quality for an LCD. The vibrant colors, the contrast ratio, color saturation and image sharpness are much better for an LCD projector. When viewing a projected image, particularly the ambient light, the viewer has to turn off the lights or close the curtains unless company has bought a more expensive projector further light. It does not happen with LCD screens, such as brightness and color quality is much better.

Angles vision used to be a problem with LCD screens, but the problem is no longer true. Most LCD screens can be seen up to 176 degrees.

Dead or stuck pixels: Projectors can suffer from dead pixels and LCD screens can suffer from pixel inactive. Both dead pixels and stuck pixels result in white spots in the projected image. However, the manufacturers of both technologies have worked hard to reduce at least these issues and in most cases provides a guarantee against such issues.

Screen size: A common thought is that the screen size is not a problem for most of the projectors as the thought is that the projected image can be made larger to moving the projector away from the screen. This is not true is the picture quality deteriorates as the image becomes larger. With projectors, most buyers opt for maximum sizes optimized image projector 76-inch to 120 inches and the actual projection normal working image that is used is much smaller. Today, if companies need a Large Lcd screen on the maximum Image Size of the projector, a wide variety of LCD competition can be found in this range.

Portability: Projectors are easy to carry and move. For a business that could be an added value or injury. LCD Screens are durable and can be moved however, are not as light projectors.

Power Consumption: energy consumption the projector can vary up to more than one unit, with brighter projectors conferences that require more energy than smaller portable projectors. It is difficult to compare the two technologies in this performance parameter.

Connectivity: Most LCD screens have more and different types of ports that the projectors. As a result of more types of devices can be connected to an LCD projector.

Other value added features: The new features are appearing in the LCD screens that can be very valuable for companies. For example, features touch screen LCD screens for LCD displays can be used as digital whiteboards and data entered on the screen easily achieved electronically captured in a text document.

We have a Canon Elph, and the screen LCD on the back of the camera has a nasty scratch on it. Is there any product out there, that would remove the zero? This is not is for the camera lens ... just for your information. The lens is fine. It is the Digital Lcd screen on the back of the camera that is scraped. Are there any LCD screens product that gets rid of scratches? Thanks!

There is no product that I know of that will remove scratches. The LCD is a very thin sheet thin optical quality glass. It is easy to scratch, but you might want to get it replaced if it bothers you.
